Sleep Onset & Relaxation Protocol

Practitioner-designed nutritional support for relaxation, nervous-system balance, and the transition into restful sleep.

Difficulty falling asleep does not always begin with a lack of sleep. For many people, the challenge is making the transition from daytime activity into a more relaxed state at night.

Mental activity, nervous-system arousal, everyday stress, and nutritional factors may all influence the body's ability to settle down at bedtime. This protocol combines complementary botanical, neurotransmitter, and mineral support for people who have difficulty relaxing and transitioning into sleep.

What This Protocol Supports

This protocol is designed to provide nutritional support for:

  • Relaxation and nervous-system balance
  • GABA-related pathways involved in relaxation
  • Neurotransmitter activity associated with a calm mental state
  • Healthy magnesium status and central nervous-system function
  • The normal transition from wakefulness into restful sleep

Who May Find This Relevant

This protocol may be relevant for adults who feel tired at bedtime but have difficulty settling down, relaxing, or quieting mental activity enough to fall asleep.

Difficulty falling asleep can have many causes. This protocol is intended as nutritional support for relaxation and sleep onset rather than as an evaluation or treatment for insomnia, circadian-rhythm disorders, sleep apnea, or other medical sleep disorders.

Mineral & Nervous-System Support

Magnesium and other minerals participate in normal nervous-system and neurotransmitter function. Select the mineral formula that best fits the type of nutritional support desired. E-Z Mg is the default option and provides plant-based magnesium from Swiss chard and buckwheat, along with naturally occurring potassium. Min-Tran provides a gentler calcium, magnesium, and iodine-based option, while Min-Chex provides broader nervous-system nutritional support using key ingredients from Min-Tran and Orchex.

How the Products Work Together

Falling asleep requires a transition from daytime alertness toward a more relaxed nervous-system state. This protocol approaches that transition through three complementary nutritional strategies.

Kava Forte provides targeted botanical support for relaxation and GABA-related signaling. Kalmz broadens the approach with amino acid and botanical ingredients that support neurotransmitter activity and a calmer mental state. The selected mineral support formula provides nutrients involved in normal nervous-system and neurotransmitter function.

Together, the products are intended to support the body's normal ability to settle, relax, and transition into sleep rather than simply providing multiple products with the same nutritional role.

Suggested Use

Follow the suggested use and label directions for each selected product unless otherwise directed by a qualified healthcare professional.

Because this protocol combines multiple formulas and allows alternative mineral selections, serving recommendations should be based on the specific products selected rather than a single protocol-wide dosing schedule.

Review the current product label before use.

The mineral component can be adjusted according to the type of nutritional support desired.

E-Z Mg is the default selection and emphasizes plant-based magnesium and central nervous-system support. Min-Tran provides a gentler mineral-based option containing calcium, magnesium, and iodine. Min-Chex provides broader nervous-system nutritional support and includes key ingredients from Min-Tran and Orchex.

The other components serve distinct roles within the protocol and are selected individually in the protocol builder.

Important Information

This protocol is intended for general nutritional and wellness support and is not intended to diagnose or treat insomnia or another sleep disorder. Persistent difficulty falling asleep, significant daytime sleepiness, loud snoring, witnessed pauses in breathing, or other concerning sleep symptoms may warrant further evaluation.

Kava Forte requires additional caution. The FDA advises of a potential risk of rare but severe liver injury associated with kava-containing dietary supplements. Kava Forte should not be used by people under 18 or during pregnancy or breastfeeding. It should not be combined with alcoholic beverages. People with liver problems, those taking medications, or those using other products that cause drowsiness should consult a qualified healthcare professional before use. Excessive use may impair the ability to drive or operate equipment, and the manufacturer states that Kava Forte is not intended for prolonged use.

E-Z Mg should be discussed with a healthcare professional during pregnancy or nursing, when taking blood-thinning medications, or when following a low-oxalate diet.

Min-Tran and Min-Chex contain iodine and should be used under professional supervision, particularly when taking antithyroid medication. Min-Chex also contains wheat and animal-derived glandular ingredients.

Review the current labels for all selected products, particularly when taking prescription medications, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or when managing an existing health condition.
